Stand up, be healthy and blossom

The Kia Puāwai Charity was established by Annah Stretton in 2016 when she saw a huge opportunity to redefine the road to better health and wellbeing for everyday New Zealanders by creating a wellness conversation that was simple, seamless and stress-free.

Kia Puāwai is changing the wellness conversation

Using short-format, workplace-based, wellness sessions, Kia Puāwai has created a weekly wellbeing programme that is focused on the three fundamentals of better health and wellbeing – Mind, Movement and Nutrition – without resorting to conventional, hard-core diet and exercise regimes.

Instead of giant leaps, Kia Puāwai programmes advocate small steps to achieve lasting improvements in wellbeing.

Who do we serve?

Waikato region based:

  • Charities/Not-For-Profits
  • Community Groups
  • Marae Groups
  • Doctor Referred Groups

Kia Puāwai motto is to ‘edit your normal’

By gradually introducing simple ‘edits’ to your normal lifestyle, you can permanently shift your wellness dial forward.

Kia Puāwai’s three core, common sense principles

Each of these principles has been captured into a series of 30 minutes sessions,
designed to be held on a weekly basis.

Nutrition

Nutrition is an 80:20 Game

Kia Puāwai advocates reducing down the ‘beige foods’ that dominate many of our diets today (i.e. high in sugar and fat, taste delicious, are convenient to prepare but don’t fuel our body) from 80% down to 20%.

This ensures we are doing right by our body for the majority of the time while also allowing room for occasional treats.

Movement

Make Movement part of your daily routine

Taking a common-sense approach to movement means simply looking out for opportunities to increase movement in your normal day.

For example –using the stairs not the elevator when you have the choice.

Mind

The body achieves what the mind believes

Mind management is about learning how to process the challenges in our daily lives.

Taking time to pause and breathe, getting our perspectives right, learning to move on from the things we can’t change while bringing a fresh perspective into scenarios we can.
